Silver Falls State Park -- Waterfall Workshop
This two day autumn workshop visits seven waterfalls in the Oregon Cascade foothills near Silverton, Oregon. Twice in its life the State Park has been nominated for a National Park, and its no wonder, as the waterfalls are in an idyllic setting of crystal clear water flowing over a basalt cap rock. The softer sandstone from an ancient seabed beneath the basalt has been eroded away by water action. The precipitous waterfalls are accessed by relatively short trails, some of which are routed behind the cascading water. Fall is the perfect time to photograph this area when Bigleaf Maples turn a rich yellow. Sturdy tripods are a must for those long exposures as is a reliable digital SLR. This workshop will focus on the technical aspects of gettting great watefall images. Part 2 for the fall series is the following weekend in the Columbia Gorge. You don't have to take them together, but if you do you'll learn the technical part of waterfall photogrpahy and creative composition. Thanks Tim for another great workshop. For those of you who are photographers and want to learn or improve our photography of waterfalls and have a great time also. You need to remember to look for Tim's workshop next year, "Silver Falls Workshop". Everytime I take one of Tim's workshops, my technique and knowledge of photography improves so I'm able to get that great image I'm looking for.
